My Story
At Steampunk Sweetmeats, I believe that sweets are not just a treat but an experience. My journey began in 2013 when chatting with a friend about the possibility of starting a steampunk confectionery business.
After a few years' hiatus, a whole lot of life changes and health challenges, I started experimenting with different flavours and ingredients to create unique and delectable sweets. After procrastinating for far too long due to lack of self belief, I finally was urged by another friend to "grasp the nettle" and "just go for it!" - so I did! I finally opened Steampunk Sweetmeats in 2024 and I've been satisfying sweet cravings ever since.
My Philosophy
At Steampunk Sweetmeats, I am fervently of the opinion that every sweet should be made with the highest quality ingredients and a lot of love. That's why I use only the freshest and finest ingredients, made into recipes which would have been found in Victorian and Edwardian days and then given a little steampunk tweak. All of my products are made fresh to order or in the week preceding an event. A sweet treat can brighten anyone's day and I want to share that joy with you. I want to look after our planet, so as much packaging as possible is recyclable - including the paper on the wrapped sweets.
My Team
I say "team" - it's just me cooking away in the kitchen and my long-suffering husband helping me with techy details and roadying for me at events (as well as sitting behind the stall with me - he‘s the one in the bowler and cravat!) I take pride in every sweet I make, meaning there's no shortcuts and no huge batches; everything is made to order. I won't be able to get something in the post the same day and probably not the day after either!
